Welcome to Family Basket!

Family Basket helps you shop smarter and stay organized with your family. Create shared grocery lists, to-do lists, and collaborate in real-time.

Creating Your Account

1. Click "Get Started" on the homepage
2. Choose to sign up with Email or Google
3. Complete the registration form
4. Verify your email (if using email signup)
5. You're ready to create your first list!

Understanding the Dashboard

Your Dashboard is your home base. Here you'll find:

• My Lists - All your personal and shared lists
• Quick Start Templates - Pre-made lists to get started quickly
• Create Button (+) - Add new lists instantly
• Navigation Bar - Access settings, recipes, and more

Creating a New List

1. Click the + button on your Dashboard
2. Enter a list name (e.g., "Weekly Groceries", "Home Projects")
3. Choose the list type:
   • Shopping List - For groceries with categories, prices, and smart suggestions
   • To-Do List - For tasks, checklists, and general organization
4. Click "Create"

Adding Items

1. Open any list
2. Click the "+ Add Item" button
3. Type the item name (suggestions will appear as you type)
4. For shopping lists:
   • Select or type a category
   • Optionally add a price
   • Choose quantity and unit
5. Press Enter or click "Add"

Checking Off Items

Simply tap or click any item to mark it as purchased/completed. The item will move to the bottom of the list with a strikethrough. Tap again to unmark it.

Editing & Deleting Items

• Edit: Tap the item, then tap the edit icon to modify details
• Delete: Swipe left on mobile or click the delete icon
• Bulk Actions: Use the list menu for bulk delete or clear completed

Sharing a List

1. Open the list you want to share
2. Tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top right
3. Select "Share List"
4. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite
5. Click "Invite"
6. They'll receive an email with a link to join

Managing Members

In the Share List dialog, you'll see:

• Current Members - People with access to the list
• Pending Invites - People who haven't joined yet
• Your Role - Owner, Editor, or Viewer

Real-Time Collaboration

When multiple people are viewing the same list:

• Changes appear instantly for everyone
• No need to refresh - updates happen automatically
• See who added or checked off each item
• Perfect for coordinating shopping trips!

Using Quick Start Templates

Templates are pre-made lists to help you get started quickly:

1. On your Dashboard, scroll to "Quick Start (Templates)"
2. Browse available templates (Weekly Groceries, BBQ Party, etc.)
3. Click any template to create a new list with pre-filled items
4. Customize the list by adding, removing, or editing items

Creating Your Own Templates

1. Create a list with all your regular items
2. Open the list menu (three dots)
3. Select "Save as Template"
4. Your template will appear in Quick Start for future use

Account Settings

Access via the gear icon in the navigation bar:

• Profile - Update display name and profile picture
• Email - Manage your email address
• Password - Change your password
• Delete Account - Permanently remove your data

My Items Catalog

Build your personal item database for faster shopping:

• Add custom items with your preferred categories
• Items appear in auto-suggestions when creating lists
• Sync from your shopping history automatically
• Organize by your store's layout

Dark Mode

Family Basket automatically follows your device's theme settings. Change your device to light or dark mode, and the app will match!
